Logan Lerman is not in talks to play Peter Parker in the "Spider-Man" reboot.
Both Columbia Pictures and the actor’s camp have denied that Lerman, who stars as the title character in “Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief,” is the lead candidate for job. In an interview with Access Hollywood, Lerman reportedly said, “There have been a few discussions; it’s definitely something I’m looking into.” That has led to reports that Lerman is the new Parker.
While a “wide net” is being cast, according to a studio spokesman, “No offers have been made, nor have any business discussions been made with Lerman.”
The actor’s camp also confirms no business discussions are being held at this time.
The studio has yet to even close a deal with the film’s potential director, Marc Webb, who would helm what promises to be a much more lean and high school-focused movie than the Sam Raimi-Tobey Maguire predecessors.
Anything to do with Spidey is hot news, of course, but it’s one thing for an actor to say, “I’m very interested in it,” like Lerman did, and another to actually have the studio interested in him. At this stage, Sony is looking at all actors who could fit the bill of a high school teen and is compiling a list.
And Lerman is on that list.
Complicating Lerman's chances is his turn in "Percy Jackson," another mega franchise (which opens Feb. 12). If "Jackson" is a hit, Fox is likely to move fast on a sequel, thus tying Lerman up.

dude are you serious? "if percy jackson is a hit"? that movie will be lucky if it makes its budget back. one week before its release and there is ZERO BUZZ on it.

i agree.
percy jackson is trying to be the next harry potter but will not get even close to the heights of popularity that the harry potter series has achieved.
just another dull tween series that can join the low ranks of twilight.

No, Percy Jackson is based on a bestselling book, that is actually very little like Harry Potter. As far as visuals are concerned, yes, it looks very much like HP. But naturally so, as it has the same director.
And, to be fair, it really is a good Children's book. Much better then Twilight, and has almost zero elements of romance.
It boasts a very highly ranked cast, highly ranked director, highly ranked company, based on a highly ranked book in a highly successful genre. How could ti NOT be successful?
I agree with this article. Lerman looks the part of Parker.

I would actually like Aaron Johnson over Lerman or even Levitt over Lerman but it doesn't seem logical....Johnson already does a sort of Tobey/Peter impression in Kick-Ass from what I've seen in the trailer...when he's sitting at the table squinting his eyes as he talks about superheros with those glasses on...it probably is meant to be a parody but he basically just played the same role with a different story..

Sorry, This kid is not Peter Parker. What made Tobey Maguire a good Peter Parker is that he has a genuine earthy likability. Tobey looks like he could be the geeky the boy next door! As an actor he usually gives quiet self contained performances , but there is always a lot going on underneath.
People that say all Maguire does is stare don't get it. There is alot underneath the staring. Tobey is one of the better male actors of his generation. Haven't seen him give a rotten performance yet. Plus I think he was able to go from wimpy geek to tough believable hero. The scene in "Spider-Man 2" toward the end where he breaks out of the ruble in the cafe with fist clinched and scowled face is evidence of this.
The only thing I think that previous series missed was spidey's humor. I loved the growth and investigation of Parker, but as Spider-man he is almost a separate being. He's really 2 people in one. Spidey is his self confident cocky side or the person he wishes he could always be as Peter Parker.
So for the next Spidey Sony really needs to pic a good actor who strikes audiences as just a regular guy. Ive always said that John Cusacak back in the 1980's would have made a great Spider-Man, or even a jimmy stewart type , minus the height and midwestern drawl> Those are the kind of actors you want for Spider-Man. You need an average everyman, not someone who belongs on TeenBeat magazine.

The actors for PERCY are all WAY TOO OLD FOR THESE PARTS.

This guy sucks. Hes a stupid choice for peter parker. He looks like some little punk that needs his @$s kicked(he also looks 2 young). I think the boy from zombieland would be a better choice then this guy or even the boy from terminator salvation Anton Yelchin. IDIOTS!!!!!!

Oh, thank you, Captain Harlan!
I got these books for a family that likes to read together because they've got a dyslexic daughter (figured it would be good for her to see a series where someone like her was the hero), so we all sat down and read the books. The first time I saw the teaser I thought "is this a Percy Jackson movie?! It is! I can't wait to tell my friends... wait, is THAT Percy Jackson?! What the puck? That kid looks like he's seventeen! He is! He's that's the brat from Gamer!"
Now I'm worried about the bowel-festering puddle of suck this thing could turn into.

most of you guys are bashing on logan lerman, but have you seen any of his work? percy jackson has not even come out yet. logan lerman has a great ability to convey emotion, he is just a person its not his fault that he slipped and said that, everyone is analyzing what he said wayyy to much. maybe you should quit complaining and wait for them to actually cast someone.

Logan is perfect. I would love to see him as Peter Parker. He has been my top choice for this role, along with Joseph Gordon Levitt. I would be 100% happy if either got it. Logan is a great actor, and Percy is only ONE movie that he has made.

They need to keep Toby as Spiderman. Thats just the fact their not gonne have anyone else do it better than him. He's already done 3 movies and knows the role and does it well. These guys end up switching just as what happened with Batman before and the stunk except the first two awhile back. Alot of my friends and others I talked to said they'll just wait for the movie to come out on rental before they see it if they switch the one who plays spidey. So will I.
