Love how Sean keeps saying there isn't enough time for Lora/Yori and Dillinger yet a couple of weeks later there's time for newcomers Daft Punk to have a cameo? If there's time for Daft Punk there's certainly time to have Cindy Morgan (Lora/Yori) in this movie!

I am probably one of the biggest fans of this movie. Although not blind to its many shortcomings, I still love this movie to death and have always wanted to see a remake, if done correctly. There are so many elements that were done well with the original, but the few things done wrong really stand out and bring it down.
I hope they respect the original material and keep what made it so wonderful, and eject/improve the flaws, rather than just use a few basic elements and redo everything.

I could not have said it better Gary. I was going to write the same thing. I love this movie and the soundtrack.I hope dinsey doesn't try to dumb it down and make it a kiddie film. Keep it dark and mysterious.

I also agree Gary, it was/is an awesome movie for it's time, and even with it's flaws it has actually aged rather well compare to other SCIFI flicks of the era.

I was nine years old when I first saw The Black Hole in the cinema. I loved it enough for it to earn me bedroom wallpaper art of the film for Christmas. I think a remake, three decades now since the original film, may be a good idea.

With the proper script & set design, this movie would be a cash cow. Hopefully it receives a good treatment, one of my favorite movies.

Hmmm, glad I came up with the idea in 2008

Looks like the Black Hole is off my list of remakes, look for our remake of Buck Rogers next year though
:-)

I am impressed.

Tutkimusmatkailijat pian huomaamaan, että robotit ovat jäänteitä entisen miehistön ja että tutkija ei aio vuokraavat niitä lähteä.

Like you guys, I too am a huge fan of the original Black Hole, despite it's very obvious flaws. The film thrilled me as a child when it first came out, and I still appreciate it today as an adult. They got many elements in the original Black Hole right, but a few elements wrong. And I've always felt for many years now that a new-and-improved remake of The Black Hole should be made. That it's finally going to happen is very exciting news indeed---along with the upcoming "Tron" sequel, which looks fabulous!

If they do it, one thing they should do differently is instead of rehashing the Cygnus crew dressed up as robots, they should appear their normal selves while having some kind of brain implant that makes them obey Reinhardt. And instead of having "Old Bob" as a robot again, he should be one of the original crew members who pretends to be under Reinhardt's control but who secretly figured out a way to be free. So, when the Palomino crew boards, the Cygnus crew acts like they willingly stayed with Reinhardt, while Bob tells them in secret what really happened.

Chris, my friends have been making fun of me for years because I have been wanting to write a reboot screenplay of TBH since about 1998, but never got past some partial treatments.

Tommykey, you must have read my mind, at least about the crew. My treatment had them as brainwashed but normal looking rather than the creepy robots, though, part of the wonderful charm and mystery of the original is in the humanoids.

My treatment however kept Bob as he was, but kept Kate's Father alive and pretending to go along, though I played with the idea of combining Kate and Holland into one character, and I was working on a way to eliminate Booth (no offense Ernie B, I loved you as a selfish coward)

I think I'm too partial to Old Bob, but must admit your idea has great merit as well. I follow the screen writer that they have tapped to write it. He pretty damned sharp so I think we are at least safe in not having a dumbed down screenplay.
